Team Captain’s Check-In Meetings –   CAPTAIN’S MEETING:  ALL SUPER SENIOR CAPTAINS AND THE 6.5 AND 7.5 SENIOR WOMEN CAPTAINS – WED., 10/21 AT 6:30 PM AT THE PENINSULA GOLF & RACQUET CLUB GRILL

Tournament Information: 

Southern Combo Doubles league champion teams from the eleven local leagues will be invited to compete in the 2009 Alabama Southern Combo Doubles SENIOR/SUPER SENIOR Championships to be held October 22-25, 2009 in Gulf Shores, AL.  Teams from twelve local leagues will be invited to compete in the ADULT championships to be held November 5-8, 2009 in Gulf Shores, AL.  Wildcard teams may be invited to complete the draw in each level if needed.  The format of play will be a round robin based on the number of teams entered.  The format may be changed by the Tournament Committee, if needed.

Located approximately 4 miles down on Fort Morgan Peninsula (Hwy. 180).  From I 65 take Exit 37 (Bay Minette/Gulf Shores Parkway) to Hwy 59.  Travel south into Gulf Shores over intracoastal waterway and take a right on Fort Morgan Rd.  Turn right on Peninsula Blvd.

From Hwy. 59 heading south, take the first left over the bridge (east), turn left at the light, right at dead end onto Canal Road (Hwy. 180).  Go approximately 8 miles to Wilson Blvd.  Turn left, courts will be on the left.

Team and individual scores and standings will be posted at the tournament headquarters each day.  Results will be entered into TennisLink throughout each day and can be viewed by clicking on championship advanced search. 

Tournament Site Desks

All captains are asked to turn in their lineups at least 30 minutes prior to the scheduled match time with all team members present and ready to play.  The USTA Point Penalty System will be in effect with lateness penalties imposed.  A fifteen-minute default time will be strictly enforced.

Practice Courts

Practice courts will be open before the first round of play each day but will close at 7:30 am.  Note that the courts will not be re-groomed after the warm up.  Players must check in at the pro shop desk for practice courts at the George Meyer at Johnnie Sims courts.  

Player Party

A buffet lunch will be served for the senior/super senior championship at Peninsula Friday, Oct. 23 beginning 10:45 am – 2:45 pm.  Door prizes will be drawn after the lunch and winning tickets will be posted on the pro shop door/window at Peninsula.  Prizes should be collected no later than Sunday, Oct. 25.  All attendees must have a ticket for entry.  $12.00 per admittance for those without ticket. 

The adult player party will be held Friday, Nov. 6 beginning at 6 pm poolside at The Beach Club.  Heavy hors D’oeuvres, cash bar, DJ and door prizes.  All attendees must have a ticket for entry.  $15.00 per admittance for those without ticket.

Awards will be presented to the participants listed on the winning entry form.
